Summary: Building a HiL bench and implementation of relevant automotive test cases

Utilized technologies: Python, CANoe/CANape data extraction from measurement files

Continental is a leader in the automotive radar market. Testing during development is compulsory on every level in the automotive industry. Hardware-in-the-loop (HIL), is one of the a techniques often used in case of the  development complex real-time embedded systems. Testing in HiL environment can be tricky and requires additional modules.

The focus in this thesis in on a HiL bench for radar. The student shall conduct literature research on the topic of testing levels and types, advantages and disadvantages of HiL testing. The thesis includes the building of a radar HiL system, which is able to: flash software, set and get voltage etc.

The tasks includes the implementation and execution of some basic tests with the available python framework and validation of the test results.

For this thesis, medium python knowledge required.

This is an internal thesis, usage of internal tools is and materials for the HiL are required!

During this task, the developer will learn:

  • the developer will gain insight on more advanced test evaluation procedures, framework developement, and tool developement
  • HW essentials of a HIL setup
