Traveling to SSIP 2009

Since SSIP 2009 participants are expected from several countries, they will probably arrive by different means of transportation to Hungary, and to Debrecen. Here are some guidance to as how to approach your final destination, that is, Debrecen, the University buildings and the dormitory. Arriving to Budapest

by plane

Many large and budget international airlines operate flights to Budapest Ferihegy airport (BUD). The City of Budapest can be easily accessed from both airport terminals by the Airport Minibus shuttle service, fast public transport (Bus 200E), train, taxi, or car. Several car rental companies have their representatives at both terminals. Please check the following web pages for further details.

Most international trains arrive at Budapest Keleti pu. (East Station) but trains to Debrecen leave from Budapest Nyugati pu. (West Station). All trains to Debrecen can be also boarded at Kőbánya-Kispest station. The short trip between the railway stations can be done by means of public transport or by taxi.

Travelling to Debrecen

from Budapest by train

Trains from Budapest to Debrecen leave from Budapest-Nyugati pu. (Nyugati Station) and from Budapest Keleti pu. (Keleti Station). There are trains in every hour, travelling time is around 3 hours. For the timetable, please check the following link:

by car

Debrecen is directly connected with Budapest by the M3 highway. It is the fastest and most convenient way to Debrecen by car. The fee for the use of the highway system in Hungary has to be paid in advance by purchasing the appropriate vignette. For prices and details please refer to the web pages below.

From the tran station you can take tram #1 which goes directly to the University Campus.

There are several ATM machines nearby the University Campus in Debrecen where you can withdraw cash from your VISA/MasterCard, and many bank branches where you can cash travellers checks. You may also use your VISA/MasterCard for purchase at several shops and supermarkets.
