There are techniques stemming from neural network community like the dynamic link architecture (DLA).
DLA is a general object recognition technique that represents an object by projecting its image onto a rectangular elastic grid where a Gabor wavelet bank response is measured at each node.
We developed a variant of dynamic link architecture based on multiscale dilation-erosion, the so-called morphological dynamic link architecture (MDLA).
It has been tested on multimedia databases collected under controlled conditions ranging from 37 to 295 persons and small galleries recorded during real-world tests.
