The Image Processing Group was established in 1975 as a research group of the Jozsef Attila University, Szeged. Its main activity connected with the medical image processing, specially, with the applications in nuclear medicine. The group developed the nuclear medicine data processing system (SEGAMS, Szeged Gamma Camera System) in a cooperation with the Gamma Works, Budapest, and the Medical University of Szeged. This software and its newer versions (SuperSEGAMS and MicroSEGAMS) have being installed in most of the nuclear medicine laboratories of the East-European countries. Another development of the group was the first Hungarian Single-Photon Emission Computed Tomograph (SPECT), the MB 9300 system.
