Abstract: The
Insight Toolkit is an open-source C++ software toolkit for
performing registration and segmentation. Segmentation is the
process of identifying and classifying data found in a digitally
sampled representation. like images acquired from CT or MRI
scanners. Registration is the task of aligning or developing
correspondences between data. E.g. a CT scan may be aligned with a
MRI scan in order to combine the information contained in
both. ITK was developed by six principal organizations, three
commercial (Kitware, GE Corporate R&D, and Insightful) and three
academic (UNC Chapel Hill, University of Utah, and University of
Pennsylvania). In its current state it is a widely used and powerful
tool for medical image analysis.
